By connecting to wifi these devices allow you to control every single power source in your home. You can replace your existing outlets with smart outlets that let you turn things on or off with a smart assistant or an app or even set timers on your phone. And for those that don’t want to deal with or are a bit afraid of the sparky bits there are smart plugs and power strips. They work muck like other power adapters with the added bonus of being able to control the state (on/off) of every single plug. I personally use them to control every aspect of my (fish room). I have quite a number or large aquariums. I use these devices to turn on my lighting, filters, pumps, fans etc. Everything set with timers to turn on and off at preset times. And as an added bonus they also tell me how much energy each is using.
